Weston Soroptimists had a stand at the Rotary Club Christmas Fayre and we continued to hand out bookmarks, including one to John Penrose when he came up to our stand.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

SI Weston super Mare\u00a0has been involved in a number of activities to promote awareness\u00a0and action to prevent\u00a0violence against women.\u00a0One of the main\u00a0objectives \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0of this awareness-raising campaign has been to \u00a0distribute\u00a0 bookmarks<\/a>,\u00a0\u00a0which to date have been distributed to branches of Waterstones in Bristol, Weston and Wells and to a bookshop in Burnham-on-Sea\u00a0. Also\u00a0they had been received with enthusiasm by Churchill, Redmaids and Sidcot schools.\u00a0 We are particularly grateful to Sidcot School for a donation which has covered the cost of getting 5,000 bookmarks printed. Soroptimists in Taunton and Bridgwater also distributed them in their towns. Melanie\u00a0<\/span> attended the opening of the Gemini services\u2019 new offices and they too are keen on using the bookmarks in schools.\u00a0 Weston Foodbank will be receiving some to display for their clients.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

On November 25 (UN Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women) a group of Sorops met at Temple Meads to be greeted by Lucy Lord of WomensAid\u00a0 and marched though Bristol to WomensAid HQ where the National Domestic Abuse helpline is based. Again book marks were distributed during the day, at train stations and other points along the route. <\/span><\/span> \u00a0 \u00a0<\/span> \u00a0<\/span> \u00a0 \u00a0<\/span> Violence Against Women poster v5a<\/a><\/p>\n
