Women\u2019s rights are Human rights \u2013 a mantra that became central to global feminism post the 4th World Women\u2019s Conference in Beijing.<\/p>\n

Gender equality is not only a basic human right, but its achievement has enormous socio-economic ramifications. Empowering women fuels thriving economies, spurring productivity and growth.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

With the creation of #UNWomen, a single UN body was tasked with accelerating progress in achieving gender equality and women\u2019s empowerment<\/p>\n

UN Women is the\u00a0United Nations<\/a>\u00a0entity dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women. A global champion for women and girls, UN Women was established to accelerate progress on meeting their needs worldwide.<\/p>\n

UN Women supports UN Member States as they set global standards for achieving gender equality, and works with governments and civil society to design laws, policies, programmes and services needed to ensure that the standards are effectively implemented and truly benefit women and girls worldwide. It\u00a0works globally to make the vision of the\u00a0Sustainable Development Goals<\/a>\u00a0a reality for women and girls and\u00a0stands behind women\u2019s equal participation in all aspects of life, focusing on four strategic priorities:<\/p>\n
