A long time friend of Mary she kindly agreed to attend our meeting to speak on the legal changes in the sentencing and treatment of &#8220;women who kill&#8221; following domestic abuse, coercive control and the constancy of fear. With over 20 at the meeting there was much discussion and surprise how a degree of relative leniency under common law from the 17th century cases has changed with wider judicial change and case law in more recent times.\u00a0 \u00a0 Watch the Club Newsletter for more information. Susan would make a superb addition to any expert working party looking at the current bills and\u00a0 future proposals for amending and lobbying via CSW, governments and local policy. Sincere thanks to Mary, Carlye and of course dear Dorothy for opening up dialogue with a woman who has significant expertise to share with us.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif\">We welcomed two guests to our meeting Celia and Angela accompanied Carlye and MaryLe. It&#8217;s always splendid to welcome women interested in the work soroptimists do to stand up for women and girls.
