Fun, Food and Friendship

Our annual strawberry tea held in conjunction with Cronton Methodists took place on July 27th. The event was organised by Hazel Landon who was very ably assisted by her “team” .  This year’ event was the largest to date with over 70 people attending and more than £400 was raised with raffles, stalls and a fabulous cake sale. The strawberry tea was absolutely delicious.

In August, Sheila Guthrie invited current and past members to her home for an evening of chatting and eating. Current members brought along food items and the result was an amazing spread. It was a very pleasant evening and £175 .00 was raised for our President’s two charities.

We know we can look forward to a relaxed and enjoyable evening when Jean Sinnott is our host and the coffee evening at her home in September was no exception. Jean had laid on an excellent buffet for us to enjoy and £204.00 was raised for President Eleanor’s charities.

Dandelion Pub Christmas 2019

10 members of the Club met on  10th December at the Dandelion pub in Cronton for a Christmas meal. The meal was delicious and the service excellent as we enjoyed a leisurely meal and good conversation. There was a slight mishap when the Christmas tree toppled over but it only added to the enjoyment of the evening!

Miss Lilliane Chouffart’s 90th birthday celebration

New Year’s Day saw the 90th birthday of one of our oldest and longest serving members, Miss Lilliane Chouffart. Members accompanied Miss Chouffart to the Churchview on Lunts Heath Road for afternoon tea. Conversation flowed with the tea and coffee and the only pause was when the sandwiches and cakes arrived. A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon was had by all.
