Winchester Soroptimists invite you to a talk on the Post Office Scandal – Thursday October 23rd 2025<\/strong><\/p>\n

The ITV drama “Mr Bates vs the Post Office” catapulted the Post Office Horizon Scandal into the spotlight last year, highlighting the many years of injustice and trauma experienced by sub-postmasters \"\"<\/a> across the country. Despite this and the subsequent enquiry, many sub-postmasters are still waiting for compensation, and the fight for justice continues. On Thursday October 23rd, come and listen to Barbara Jeremiah JP MSc and Dr Kay Linnell OBE, who have both been working with sub-postmasters and campaigning for justice.<\/p>\n

As accountants and members of the Justice for Postmasters alliance respectively, Barbara has been involved for over 20 years, and Kay over 14, in seeking redress for those affected. Come and hear all about their work in advocating for restitution and continuing in the battle for compensation for victims, as well as highlighting systemic flaws and working to hold those responsible to account.<\/p>\n

The evening is hosted by Winchester Soroptimists – Soroptimism is a global volunteer movement of women working together to transform the lives of women and girls through education, empowerment and enabling opportunities. The organisation has general consultative status at the UN Commission on the Status of Women and works to improve lives at home and overseas (Welcome! | SI Winchester and District | SIGBI<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Proceeds from the evening will be split; half will go to the charity\u00a0Lost Chances for Children of Subpostmasters (www.lostchances.co.uk<\/a>), who seek to redress\u00a0the chances taken from the families of subpostmasters caught up in the scandal.<\/p>\n

The other half will support Winchester Soroptimists charitable projects in the local area, including the local Refuge, lobbying Government for Womens rights, Trinity Womens Services, support for the Domestic Abuse Forum, Solar Aid in Africa, LendwithCare, sponsorship of Winchester girls rugby, and campaigns for womens rights.<\/p>\n
