{"id":3019,"date":"2016-03-22T17:03:21","date_gmt":"2016-03-22T16:03:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/winchester-and-district\/?p=3019"},"modified":"2016-03-22T17:09:52","modified_gmt":"2016-03-22T16:09:52","slug":"a-minutes-silence-for-betty","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/winchester-and-district\/2016\/03\/22\/a-minutes-silence-for-betty\/","title":{"rendered":"A minute&#8217;s silence for Betty"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Barbara Jeremiah attended the memorial service of a very interesting Soroptimist, Mrs Betty Sugden MRCVS, at Hook, Hampshire on 22nd February of this year and brought back this story to our club, SI Winchester, where we held a minute&#8217;s silence for Betty.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/winchester-and-district\/files\/2016\/03\/Dec01468.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3022\" src=\"\/winchester-and-district\/files\/2016\/03\/Dec01468.jpg\" alt=\"Dec01468\" width=\"474\" height=\"519\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/winchester-and-district\/files\/2016\/03\/Dec01468.jpg 474w, https:\/\/sigbi.org\/winchester-and-district\/files\/2016\/03\/Dec01468-273x300.jpg 273w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 474px) 100vw, 474px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Barbara says, &#8216;We first met \u00a0Betty, a former local and national President of SI Zimbabwe when she had just returned from over 40 years as a veterinary surgeon in Africa, arriving back with just a suitcase.\u00a0 Her son Richard, went to get his mother after she had suffered and been held at knife point during an uprising in Zimbabwe.
