Soroptimists have a strong focus on giving women the abilities and power to improve their lives. So the Soroptimist International Programme of Action concentrates on 6 areas: Economic and Social Development; Education; Environment; Health; Human Rights and the Status of Women; International Goodwill and Understanding.
Our goals are always to work towards enabling women and girls to have better lives by: Enjoying equity and equality, Living in safe and healthy environments, Having access to education, Developing leadership and practical skills.
Woking Soroptimists support a range of initiatives. We may provide practical help – such as being a trustee, a school governor or helping students to practise for work interviews or we may raise awareness about an organisation or a cause or put on events to raise funds.
To carry out this work, we have established the following project groups: Lobbying; Violence against Women; Climate Action; Modern Slavery.
