Woking Soroptimists support a range of initiatives.\u00a0 We provide practical help, we raise awareness about organisations and causes and we put on events to raise funds.<\/p>\n
We currently have four specialist groups, in line with the national Federation’s programme; Women Against Violence (VAWG), Microfinance Projects, Education and Climate Change.<\/p>\n
Some of the local<\/strong> charities we support:<\/p>\n Shifa<\/strong>, the Project for Asian Women’s Wellbeing, which does a great deal for local women.\u00a0 Woking Soroptimists help Shifa’s clients to improve their English.\u00a0 We aim to boost the confidence of women who may just have arrived in Woking or who need to improve their speaking skills.\u00a0 Feeling competent and confident when speaking in all sorts of settings is key to getting on in life.<\/p>\n Your Sanctuary, <\/strong>the charity in Surrey that helps all those who have suffered domestic abuse.<\/p>\n International<\/strong> projects and SI Clubs we support:<\/p>\n We have a special Friendship Link with the Soroptimist International Clubs in Durban and Pretoria\/Tshwane.<\/p>\n We support the Hamlin Fistula Hospital in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.\u00a0 The hospital needs knitted blankets for the patients.
