Eikon – helping young people in Surrey<\/h1>\n

\"\"<\/a>Our invited speaker this month was Deborah Oates, an Eikon Garden Clubs volunteers.\u00a0 She gave us a lively and stimulating talk about local charity Eikon<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Deborah focused on the creating of the ‘Hope and Dreams’ garden created by young people in the grounds of Fullbrook School, Addlestone.<\/p>\n

Supported by Eikon, young people created the garden.\u00a0 Young people now find a connection with the garden and care for it.\u00a0 In the process they discover themselves.<\/p>\n

Women ‘of Our Time’<\/h1>\n

Don’t miss the thought-provoking dinner service display at Watts Gallery.\u00a0 Women in Send prison created the display about modern women who would interest Mary Watts.\u00a0 See if you agree with their choices.\u00a0 Until end November 2025<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Part of an art project to help women prisoners access the therapeutic power of art.<\/p>\n

Knitting to help women in Ethiopia<\/h1>\n

This month we will send 20 blankets to Hamlin Fistula UK.\u00a0 Knitted by Woking Soroptimists and friends, they will be given to women in hospital in Ethiopia.\u00a0 These women have suffered injury during childbirth and need a repair operation.\u00a0 The blankets are a great comfort during a difficult time.<\/p>\n

Hamlin Fistula Trust reported receiving 2494 blankets during 2025: “Your handmade gifts bring comfort, warmth, and a deep sense of care to women who have suffered from childbirth injuries, often for years without knowing that healing is possible and that they can return to a normal life.”<\/p>\n

Next year, the target is 3,500 blankets.\u00a0 Let’s get knitting!!<\/p>\n
