Read <a href=\"https:\/\/prisonreformtrust.org.uk\/one-in-four-women-in-prison-held-on-remand\/\">here<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>&#8216;Medical Misogyny&#8217;<\/h2>\n<p>The UK Women and Equalities Committee of the UK Parliament published a report in 2024. It said that &#8216;medical misogyny&#8217; is leaving women in unnecessary pain and undiagnosed for years&#8217;. Women across the country will be better heard and served under new plans set out in the renewed Women&#8217;s Health Strategy.\u00a0 Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/news\/womens-voices-to-be-at-the-heart-of-renewed-health-strategy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"govuk-grid-row gem-print-columns-none translation-nav-header\">\n<div class=\"govuk-grid-column-two-thirds translation-nav-header__child\">\n<h2 class=\"gem-c-heading govuk-!-margin-bottom-0\" dir=\"ltr\">Annual General Meeting &#8211; new Presidential team<\/h2>\n<p>Outgoing President Silvia Sch\u00e4fer&#8217;s summary of the year: &#8221; \u00a0 I hope you enjoyed the varied programme of speakers this year:\u00a0 from them we gained first-hand knowledge of the situation in Ukraine, advice on keeping safe online, the benefit of Therapy Gardens and the work of Woking Street Angels and much moreo.\u00a0\u00a0 I was delighted that we were able to secure \u00a0a donation of \u00a31000 for Woking Street Angels from West Byfleet Golf Club.\u00a0Our project work included continued support of Your Sanctuary, English conversation sessions and more with Shifa, distribution of Safety contact cards, Orange Cafes and much knitting\u2026\u00a0Other highlights were our successful hosting of the SI Southern Regional Meeting in September 2025, and very enjoyable social evenings at Christmas and New Year.\u00a0 These social events remind us that friendship is one of our core strengths.
