Soroptimist International Yeovil, Sherborne & Districts
Jean Newman and Angela Baker
This may be the first time you have looked at our website and may be wondering what Soroptimists are all about. We work on projects to transform the lives of women and girls, both locally and worldwide and forge friendships with other like-minded women who want to give other women and girls the opportunity to improve their lives.
The members come from a wide area around Yeovil and Sherborne. As a club we meet approximately twice a month, on the second and fourth Tuesday at 7-30pm, quite often at the Manor Hotel in Yeovil, but we also like to vary the venue when we meet socially. These meetings include hosting speakers relevant to our causes, club business and working on Programme Action, which is the way we address issues including; domestic violence, access to education, the right to clean water and sanitation, human trafficking, health and the environment. Locally we support Chernobyl Children’s Lifeline; The Hub; South Somerset Young Carers; Girl Guides; Water Aid and Yeovil Hospital.
We arrange social events to raise funds for the charities we support and this gives us the opportunity to enjoy each other’s company away from formal business. The Programme of Events for this year can be seen on this site.
If you would like to attend an event, be a speaker, or are considering membership, please click on ‘Contact Us’ or email firstname.lastname@example.org. You will receive a warm welcome, learn about a global organisation of women making a big difference and we are sure you will make new friends.
We would love to hear from you.
