Soroptimists do!\u00a0 We stand up for women and girls around the world.<\/h2>\n<p>We have been established in the area for over 70 years.\u00a0 We are women from a variety of ages, backgrounds and occupations with one mission; that through education and empowerment, we enable women and girls to achieve their individual and collective potential.<\/p>\n<p>We meet on a monthly basis at the Manor Hotel, Yeovil and have a number of informal friendly gatherings at other venues.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As an international organisation with Consultative status at the United Nations, we maintain a neutral position on Party Politics and Sectarian Religion.\u00a0 We do, however,\u00a0 lobby politicians at all levels on issues that have an impact on the lives of women and girls &#8211; health; education; all forms of violence and sexual exploitation, trafficking and all issues of equality.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We actively engage in projects to meet the aims mentioned above through what we call &#8216;Programme Action&#8217;.\u00a0 This\u00a0 is fed up through our organisation to the UN ensuring that we retain our status.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As part of a network of clubs within our south west region, our country and wider Federation we really can make a difference.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>If you would like to know about us here in Yeovil &amp; Sherborne areas then do contact us. Soroptimists are women from a wide range of professions and occupations, including the voluntary sector. They are from all age groups, ethnic groups and culture.<\/p>\n<h3>Wouldn&#8217;t you like to be a Soroptimist?<\/h3>\n<p>The local Soroptimist Club is Yeovil Sherborne &amp; Districts, covering the towns and villages in the surrounding areas. It has a lively and diverse group of about 20 women members.
