A MEMBER of a REGION:

You are a member of Soroptimist International Yorkshire. SI Yorkshire is the region with the largest number of clubs in Great Britain and Ireland. Altogether there are 17 regions across Great Britain and Ireland.

The Region is led by a group of Officers who are all voluntary in their posts.

They are:-

Yorkshire President, President Elect, Vice President, Immediate Past President, Treasurer, Secretary, Minute Secretary, Communications and Media Officer, Development Officer, Membership Officer, Programme Action Officer.

The Region also has a Federation Consultative Councillor; Angela Edwards and a Benevolent Fund Trustee; Hilary Putman.

As a Member of a Region you vote/have a voice about: 

Who holds posts within your region

Financial decisions (e.g. fees, donations to charity)

As a Member of a Region you can get involved in/contribute to:

View Programme Action Reports submitted by every club across the region

Regional Council Meetings (held 4 times a year)

Attend Inter-Club events

Observe Officer’s Meetings (held 4 times a year)

Attend Regional Conferences (held at the discretion of each Yorkshire President)

Access the Yorkshire Newsletter

Access the Yorkshire Website, Twitter, WhatsApp Group.

Hold a regional office.

Join regional groups such as Programme Action and/or Soroptimist International Yorkshire Against Modern Slavery (SIYAMS)

A MEMBER of a FEDERATION

You are a member of Soroptimist International Great Britain and Northern Ireland (SIGBI.) SIGBI has 6000 Members in 270 Clubs in 18 countries including Great Britain, Ireland and countries in Asia, the Caribbean and Malta.

As a Member of a Federation you vote/have a voice about: 

Who holds office as a member of the Federation Board

Who holds office as a Programme Action Director

Resolutions to be adopted at Federation Conferences

Programme Action Projects to be adopted (lasting 2 years)

As a Member of a Federation you can get involved in/contribute to:

Attend the Annual Conference

Attend the annual Federation Programme Action Meeting as an observer

Get Involved in SIGBI Projects (currently, achievement of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, Women in Prisons project in conjunction with The Prison Reform Trust and improving legal protection for survivors of domestic abuse within the Domestic Abuse Bill.)

Support representatives to make suggestions/recommendations at the United Nations on the Commission of the Status of Women and Girls.

Attend the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women annual meeting in New York as an observer

Soroptimist International consists of representatives from 5 Federations which are:- SIGBI, SI Africa, SI Americas, SI Europe, SI West Pacific. 

As a global volunteer movement, we work together to transform the lives of women and girls. Our network of around 72,000 club members in 121 countries works at a local, national and international level to Educate, Empower and Enable opportunities for women and girls.

As a Member of a Federation you vote/have a voice about:

Who becomes President and President Elect

As a Member of a Federation you can get involved in/contribute to:

Support the International President’s Project which lasts 2 years

Support representatives to make suggestions/recommendations at the United Nations on the Commission of the Status of Women and Girls.

Attend the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women annual meeting in New York as an observer

Support international concerns (e.g. International Day of Peace, 16 Days of Action, Anti Slavery Day, International Human Rights Day)
