Its theme was Modern Day Slavery. Out of this event SI Yorkshire Anti-Slavery Sub Group (ASSG) was born. This was later renamed SI Yorkshire Anti-Slavery Group (ASG) and subsequently Soroptimist International of Yorkshire Against Modern Slavery (SIYAMS).<\/p>\n<p>Read more about <a href=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/yorkshire\/history-of-siyams\/\">the history of SIYAMS here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The SIYAMS group has specifically focussed on:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/yorkshire\/si-yorkshire-anti-slavery-group-overview\/siyams-relationships\/\">Relationships<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/yorkshire\/domestic-abuses\/\">Domestic Abuse<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/yorkshire\/sexual-abuse\/\">Sexual Abuse<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/yorkshire\/si-yorkshire-anti-slavery-group-overview\/siyams-online-safety\/\">Online Safety<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/yorkshire\/si-yorkshire-anti-slavery-group-overview\/siyams-modern-day-slavery\/\">Slavery and trafficking<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/yorkshire\/si-yorkshire-anti-slavery-group-overview\/siyams-forced-marriage\/\">Forced Marriage<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/yorkshire\/siyams-female-genital-mutilation\/\">Female Genital Mutilation (FGM)<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The hexagons show the various aspects of the work of SIYAMS. Each hexagon gives information on that particular subject, with links to websites for further reading. However, note that they are all intrinsically linked, and all of them constitute abuse against women and girls, and enslave women. \u2018Relationships\u2019 is in the centre to reflect its importance to all the others. They all frequently overlap.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Recent activity<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Survey carried out at 32 stations. Data collated and presented to transport companies and police<\/li>\n<li>Presentation given at meeting by SIGBI Safeguarding Lead, on her work as Border Force at Heathrow Airport<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul data-setdir=\"false\">\n<li>Survey on Safe Spaces for Women carried out at the airport.
