We work to help improve the lives of women and girls worldwide, using our networks to deliver projects relevant in our own localities or further afield.\u00a0 Many of the problems facing women and girls are the same everywhere, for example gender inequality, but there are particular problems in each continent, country, region and locality.<\/p>\n

Our special status at the United Nations \u00a0helps us to engage with UN entities as well as Soroptimists worldwide.<\/p>\n

Our current focus is helping to implement projects which work toward achievement of the UN\u2019s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs \u2013 https:\/\/sdgs.un.org\/goals<\/a>). We do this through our own projects and through working in partnership with others at home and abroad<\/a>. \"\"SIYAMS – Soroptimist International of Yorkshire Against Modern Slavery<\/strong> have created and distributed a number of bookmarks to help young people understand healthy relationships and the warning signs of exploitation. \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Read about their online safety bookmarks here.<\/a> They have also published a leaflet to help grandparents recognise \u00a0signs that their grandchildren may be being lured into country line. Soroptimist Project Special Domestic Abuse Courts: How Special Are They? \u00a0<\/strong> \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Soroptimists across England contributed to this recently launched report which highlights ways in which women in children remain vulnerable despite court proceedings and makes recommendations for improvement. A family law barrister said of the report: ‘Before seeing this, I didn\u2019t know what Soroptimists were, and have now explored the website and online materials. I am really impressed with the report, and the spotlight you have shone on the issue of support for survivors of domestic abuse…..well done to your organisation, and I hope that the report is considered by decision-makers and judges at the highest levels\u2019.
