[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Joint Yorkshire President Sue and Yorkshire Programme Action Lead Linda picked out 4 projects to be shortlisted for the awards at the Regional Council Meeting at the Holiday Inn, Scotch Corner.\u00a0 Members then voted on the best project.<\/p>\n

The winner was Bingley and their cluster clubs with ‘A Celebration of Safe’<\/p>\n

The cluster clubs created an art installation celebrating safe spaces in the region of Bradford.\u00a0 The installation was created using comments from members of the public at Freshers Fairs plus written work from a group of vulnerable women.<\/p>\n

\"\" <\/a>\u00a0 <\/a>\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The three runners-up were:<\/p>\n

Harrogate & District with ‘Student Emotional Health and Wellbeing’<\/p>\n

They produced a business case to raise \u00a35000 over two years to provide additional counseling sessions for students at Rossett School experiencing emotional health and mental issues as a result of the pandemic, school closures and social isolation.<\/p>\n

\"\"\u00a0 <\/a>\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Sheffield with ‘Share Our Skills Spring Fayre 2025’<\/p>\n

Members of the club met with Year 12 girls as part of the Share our Skills project from last October.\u00a0 They encouraged them to plan events to raise money for the Sheffield charity ‘Mums in Need’.<\/p>\n

\"\"\u00a0 <\/a>\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Spen Valley with ‘Women’s Network’<\/p>\n

The sessions provide a safe space for women of all nationalities to talk about their lives and their hopes and fears for the future.\u00a0 No topic is out of bounds.\u00a0 Good lasting friendships have been formed between the different communities.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

There were also two President awards<\/p>\n

Richmond & Dales ‘Tote Bags for Children in Care (supporting NY Voice)’<\/p>\n

Members of the club made large tote bags for looked after children (LAC).\u00a0 The bags are used to transport their clothes and personal belongings from foster homes or care homes.<\/p>\n

Wakefield & District ‘Challenges’<\/p>\n

President Julie challenged members to step out of their comfort zone and undertake something new.<\/p>\n

\"\"\u00a0 <\/a>\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The regional award went to the group Soroptimist International Against Modern Slavery (SIYAMS) for their work with Bookmarks, Leaflets, Train Survey and the Danielle Project.<\/p>\n

Garforth Elmet, Hallamshire, Ilkley and Selby displayed their current projects.<\/p>\n

We also had two speakers, Richinda Taylor from Eva, and Kay Rafferty from Smartworks.<\/p>\n
