80,000 Soroptimists Worldwide

There are nearly 80,000 Soroptimists worldwide, the majority of whom belong to their local Club, where they can make friends with like-minded women, have fun and work on projects that help improve the lives of women and girls locally, nationally and internationally.

Soroptimist International Great Britain and Ireland (SIGBI) also offers Associate Membership, for busy women who believe in what we do but do not have the time to get involved in Club activities.

Soroptimist International (SI) and SIGBI both have consultative status at the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) at the United Nations (UN), which gives us a voice on important discussion papers.

Join Us and help us to Make That Difference to Women and Girls worldwide.

In Chester

We usually meet at 7.30pm on the second Monday of each month at Mollington Banastre, CH1 6NN to plan, develop and review current projects During current lockdown / social distancing, we are meeting virtually at least once a week.

Project work includes elements of:

  • awareness raising
  • lobbying
  • practical help
  • fundraising

Some members also enjoy the social aspect of being a member, while others value the global network of Soroptimist clubs.

COVID-19 Update

No one could have foreseen the total devastation caused by this invisible, ruthless and global disease. It has caused unfathomable despair to families, the vulnerable, the NHS, care workers and other key workers. But it has not shut down our Club, our friendships and our resolve. We will continue to meet, albeit online, and we will continue to empower, enable and educate women and girls to the best of our abilities during these difficult times.
