Why am I a Soroptimist


S.I. Cirencester & District
is a vibrant, friendly club with over 30 members and growing. The club was Chartered in 1948, a daughter club of SI Gloucester which has since closed. The Club has friendship links with SI/Europe Ogre-Kegums, Latvia, SI/Europe, Itzehoe, Germany and with S.I. Bury and S.I Durham in this country.

Who is Collecting What and for Whom:

Barnstaple:  Textiles unwanted clothing the charity shops will not take.  Not bedding textiles, to raise money for Knickers for Knowledge project in Zimbabwe:

Bath: Jewellery of any type, for Alzheimer’s Society.  Ring pulls from cans – sent to the Philippines Community Fund.  Plastic squeezy toothpaste tubes.  Used stamps for the Huntington’s Diseasse Society.

Bridgewater:  Collecting items for car boot sale the club runs, Recycling of old birthday cards which the members sell at their meetings and other events.  Selling old used postage stamps.

Bristol: North West Bristol Food Bank:  Dried Foods, tins etc.    Mary’s Meals:  Backpacks, pencils, rulers, rubbers etc.  Bridge Rape Crisis Centre:  small toiletries to be given to rape victims when they come to the assessment centre.  Women’s Hostel:  Household items towels and bedding for a shelter

Brixham:  Red Gingham dresses aged 6 and under, going to a school they support in Northern Kenya.
Used postage stamps to raise money for the Devon Air Ambulance.
