Croeso – Welcome
Welcome to Soroptimist International ( SI ) Neath
Soroptimist International ( SI ) Neath is part of a global network of more than 3,000 Soroptimist Clubs worldwide.
Soroptimist International is a vibrant, dynamic organization for today’s woman. It is committed to a world where women achieve their individual and collective potential, realize aspirations and have an equal voice in creating strong and peaceful communities worldwide.
Who are we ?
SI Neath was founded in 1947 and chartered in 1948. At present we have forty two members from a variety of professions and voluntary and other organizations. We are active in the community and enjoy meeting together for service, fellowship and fun.
The Soroptimist International Club of Neath is one of 20 Clubs in the Region of Wales South.
Members of SI Neath are active locally through service and fund-raising projects, and at national and international levels in partnership with other Soroptimist clubs and organizations helping to improve the lives of women and girls.
We meet on the second and fourth Monday of most months at The Castle Hotel, Neath. Our meetings in December and August tend to be flexible and mainly social. Fund raising and social events are organised throughout the year.
Where can you find us?
Neath, or Castell Nedd, its Welsh name, is located in the traditional County of Glamorgan, South Wales between Cardiff & Swansea. The town is built on the River Neath and is now part of the unitary authority of Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council.
Neath has a rich and varied history and the area contains evidence of over 2,000 years of continuous habitation. It has a castle, a monastery and was the site of a Roman fort and also has been a bustling industrial town. The Welsh Rugby Union was founded in one of its hotels.
It is still a lively market town which hosts a fair twice a year and an annual food fair.
