Since 1977, Soroptimist International Weybridge & District has brought women together to make a positive difference to the lives of women and girls. From local projects to international friendships, we combine practical action with shared experiences, laughter and lasting friendships.
With members near and far, we welcome women who want to make a difference, meet like-minded people and be part of something special.
Our projects support the UN Sustainable Development Goals, focusing on the health, wellbeing, education and empowerment of women and girls, alongside tackling poverty and climate change.
As part of a global network, we share evidence of our work to raise awareness, influence change and demonstrate our impact. Soroptimists also contribute to discussions at the United Nations, helping ensure that the voices and experiences of women and girls are heard.

We’re a lively, welcoming mix of women who love good conversation, new ideas and each other’s company. Some of us have been part of the club for years, some have only just joined but you’ll always find plenty of laughter, friendship and a warm welcome.
You’ll find us at The Fairmile in Cobham on the third Thursday of every month. We get together over dinner to catch up, talk about what we’ve been up to and plan what’s coming next
Big ideas, good causes and great company. Our programme brings together everything from campaigning and community projects to inspiring speakers, fundraising and time to simply enjoy each other’s company. There’s always something new to get involved in and we’re always excited to hear where a new idea might take us.
In July 2027 our club will be 50! Over these productive years of continuous service, members have been drawn from the existing Elmbridge Borough. Soon to be East Surrey UA, we have a growing number of members living in Weybridge, Walton on Thames, Molesey, Thames Ditton, Pyrford, Byfleet and as far afield as Tadworth, Weston super Mare and Cape Town. Members rarely leave even when they move away and ZOOM and face to face sessions and social events allow us to work together and run the club in a collegiate way. Longstanding Friendship Links with clubs in the Nordic countries and Germany widen our scope for impact and friendship including regular visits and opportunity to contact WW soroptimists when travelling or working overseas for advice and friendship
We’re a friendly, supportive club where everyone has something to offer. Eight volunteer members help keep things running, from organising meetings and managing finances to coordinating projects and keeping us connected. We share ideas, learn from one another and support each other to turn our plans into action. With guidance and training from SIGBI, we work alongside other clubs locally, nationally and internationally to make a real difference to women and girls. There’s no one way to be a Soroptimist — bring your ideas, share your skills and be part of something special.
Making a difference to women and girls — locally and around the world. Through practical action, fundraising and partnerships, we support women’s health, safety, education and opportunities, turning our shared commitment into meaningful change.
We work with Surrey domestic abuse agencies and SI Epsom on the Fresh Thoughts information booklet, helping victims understand their rights and access support. We also support local organisations including North Surrey Domestic Abuse Service, Your Sanctuary and Oasis through regular donations and fundraising. Our work includes raising awareness of violence against women and girls and campaigning for safer public spaces.
Working with schools, charities and community partners, we encourage girls to explore science, technology, engineering, maths and the arts through practical activities, competitions, reading and careers advice — helping build confidence and open doors to future opportunities.
Our overseas work has supported two Sri Lankan students through university, funded a Pink Tuk Tuk in partnership with the Rosie May Foundation to support women’s employment, and helped establish Dorothy’s Sewing Room at Project Hope, providing young women with tailoring skills. We also advocate for the rights of women and girls in Afghanistan, supporting efforts to protect their freedoms and access to education.
We make regular donations to local food banks and collect pre-loved bras for ZABRA, helping distribute thousands of bras to women in Africa.
We sponsor and partner with Hersham FC Ladies to widen opportunities for girls and women to enjoy sport, fitness, competition and friendship. We also raise awareness of women’s health issues, including HPV and cervical, ovarian and oral cancers.
As part of the worldwide Soroptimist network, we contribute to wider campaigns and advocacy, including initiatives to improve women’s safety at railway stations and challenge violence against women and girls.
