Soroptimist International (SI) Weybridge & District is an active women’s club with a membership of over 20 women; we have members who were involved with founding our club over 40 years ago, women who are active but retired and women who are in employment and/or volunteering. Age or experience is no barrier. The club membership is drawn from Molesey, Hinchley Wood, Hersham, Walton & Staines on Thames, Addlestone, Pyrford and Weybridge at present but if you can get to our meetings we’d love to hear from you.
We meet 10 times a year and support local, national and international projects with a focus on improving the lives of women and girls. Our meetings are on the third Thursday of the month generally in Weybridge. Local projects include support for the NHS, local schools and the new Weybridge food bank. We organise (with SI Woking) an annual ‘STEM’ based sustainability project challenge for school girls, it’s hosted by Royal Holloway UOL , we also raise funds for local women’s refuges to enable young women to learn new skills and access technology. Internationally the club has strong friendship links in Northern Europe and Sri Lanka and contributes to programme action by organising events, socials and creating awareness in the local community of the work of Soroptimists worldwide.
Our club has been lucky to recruit new associates/members each year but we’d love to have more ‘friends’ to socialise with and work alongside. If you have time on your hands and want to make a difference in any small way we’d love you to join a meeting to see how we function – always in the spirit of friendship. If you are interested in meeting for a ‘cuppa’ or an online ‘chat’ contact our Membership Secretary by email firstname.lastname@example.org.
