Members and guests were enthralled by Peter Watson’s talk on Medicine and Magic. For many of us it brought back memories of the old style remedies our mothers and grandmothers practised if we were feeling under the weather. We were taken on a magical journey learning about such “cures” as holding children over hot tar barrels to cure whooping cough and rubbing raw meat on warts.
