About our club

We are vibrant, resourceful women from all walks of life who enjoy fun and friendship whilst making a difference to women and girls through projects, service and volunteering

Enjoying fun and friendship whilst working for others

Welcome to SI Bridgend and District.
We are an active and friendly club of around 40 members of all ages and from a variety of backgrounds who combine their expertise, knowledge, skills and talents to deliver positive change through a range of projects. We like to mix fun with the more serious aspects of being a Soroptimist and enjoy social events and fundraising activities throughout the year.

Say hello

Our theme for 2026-2027 is Countering Violence Against Women and Girls. Through engaging speakers, lively discussion and practical action, often in partnership with local groups and international organisations, we are raising awareness, advocating for change and making a difference to the lives of women and girls. A key focus this year is our schools’ project, ‘Pupil Voices’, encouraging children and young people to make the world a safer place by using their voices in a creative way.

Club information

Soroptimist International Bridgend and District is a part of an international membership organisation of women with a shared commitment to creating positive change to improve the lives of women and girls – locally, nationally and globally.

Who we are

We are women who feel strongly about issues affecting women and girls. We advocate for improvement to the lives of women and girls and we take action in support of positive change. We want to help women and girls reach their potential. We want to connect with inspiring, like-minded women. We want to get involved, share ideas and make a difference.

Where we meet

Our club meetings are held on the second and fourth Wednesday every month at the Heronston Hotel, Bridgend (please check the programme). Meetings include interesting speakers, lively discussion and club business which is kept as short as possible. Members also give what time they can volunteering on our projects. And, of course, we enjoy social events and fundraising activities.

Club programme

We have a wide and varied programme of engaging speakers, thoughtful discussion and practical action focussed on making a positive change in the lives of women and girls. We often partner with other organisations to achieve our project goals. And our social events are full of fun and friendship! Click here for our current programme.

Club history

Founded in Bridgend in 1947, we are looking forward to celebrating our 80th year of service and support to the local and international community. It’s a great time to get involved!

Friendship links

The club has five Friendship Links, some established over 50 years ago, whilst others are more recent. We keep up-to-date through email and social media, share ideas and news with occasional online meetings and, when opportunities arise, enjoy face-to-face meetings!

Current projects

Our projects are at the heart of what we do. Every project, large or small, contributes to a wider impact. By listening to the communities we serve, locally and further afield, and identifying emerging issues, we respond by taking targeted action. Click here to find out more.
