Safety For Women and Girls on Buses – Safety Survey
Soroptimist International Northern England (SINE) working in partnership with the Go NorthEast Bus Company set up an on line survey from April to September 2026 and asked as many members from the 10 clubs in SINE, as possible to respond. The report includes 101 responses from a population potential of approximately 180 members.
This survey was based on the questions designed by GoNorthEast, asking for information on women's experiences on their network. Customisation included identifying: If in fact members used bus transport, and a very generic geography based on the Clubs memberships areas .
Bus Users: 46% of the members do not currently use public transport (specifically buses) at this time, and so the experiences recorded are based on 54% of the respondents.
Geography: Soroptimist International Northern England includes North Cumbria which does not have Go NorthEast, and some of the North East Members actually reside outside the area. It was felt this would provide additional useful insight.
