About our Club


SI Norwich was chartered in 1952.

It is  part of an International organisation for women who are interested in helping others serving the community ,working together and  enjoying themselves.

The Club meets twice a month  on a Monday . Our new venue will be at Norwich High School , 95 Newmarket Road, Norwich , NR2 2HU.

Each month we have  one  speaker  meeting and one business meeting, plus  many social events

At Home:

In 2016/2017  we raised funds for Blood Bikers

In 2015/16  We raised funds for the Norwich YMCA

Also for EACH (East Anglia Children’s Hospices.),  Leeway Women’s Refuge,

4women Resource Centre

Additionally we work with a local primary school as reading partners, we offer prizes for attendance and help collect litter on a local walk /cycle pathway. We collect  toiletries and food for Food Banks in Norwich and Cromer.

Abroad

We fund raise for London Anglia Regional project  ‘Neat Hands, Happy Feet’  which will work towards the eradication of the parasite, Jiggers.

Also the new Federation project  “Meru Women’s Garden Project 2016-2019 “- supporting women in Kenya to grow food organically and earn a living.

Social

We enjoy a variety of social events (many of them involve food), often meeting at member’s homes. In addition there are walks , a plant sale, fashion show and theatre trips – combining fundraising with social activities.

Friendship Links:

SI Noordoostpolder, Netherlands . Six Dutch members visited Norwich in 2010 and toured the city , walked round Sheringham Park and had a visit to BBC Radio Norfolk and ate heartily !.We hope to see some of them when we visit the Netherlands in April  to attend a fund raising concert in aid of Syrian refugees.

SI Hana-Karkur, Israel.We keep in touch with regular letters .

SI Vandalia, Illinois, USA. They email us their news and it is good to hear about different approaches to work in the community.

SI Glasgow City was newly formed in 2010 merging two Glasgow clubs and members keep in touch,  exchange visits and see one another at Conferences.

SI Ilkley, many long lasting friendships have been made between members of both clubs.Norwich members went to Ilkley in  2014 to celebrate their 70th Anniversary

SI Cuxhaven, Germany.  Six members visited Norwich and North Norfolk in 2011 and we will be visiting them in September 2017
