Members of Soroptimist International Perth gathered in Perth High Street to mark the beginning of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, a worldwide campaign running from 25 November to 10 December.
The demonstration aimed to raise public awareness of violence against women and girls, highlighting an issue that affects people of all ages and backgrounds. Abuse takes many forms, including physical violence, coercive control, emotional abuse, sexual harassment and online intimidation.
With a woman killed by a man approximately every three days in the UK, Soroptimists stressed the urgent need for greater awareness, education and action to tackle gender-based violence.
Through their public demonstration, Perth Soroptimists reaffirmed their commitment to promoting equality, protecting women’s rights and supporting a society free from violence and fear.
Their message was clear: Women and girls deserve to feel safe everywhere — at home, in public, at work and online. Everywhere. Always.
