Soroptimists from across Scotland North gathered in Aberdeen on Saturday 19 September 2026 for their Regional Meeting and Annual General Meeting, bringing together members committed to improving the lives of women and girls in their communities and beyond.

Hosted by Soroptimist International Aberdeen, the event was a day of friendship, lively discussion, shared experiences and collaboration, providing an opportunity for members to celebrate their achievements and explore new ways of working together.

Representatives from Soroptimist clubs in Aberdeen, Perth, Easter Ross, and Inverness and Nairn attended, sharing updates on the wide variety of projects being undertaken throughout the region. These reports highlighted the dedication, enthusiasm and practical action of Soroptimists working to address issues affecting women and girls, while supporting positive change within their local communities.
A particularly thought-provoking highlight of the meeting was a presentation by Dr Kylie Murray from Perth, who delivered an informative and compelling account of the current situation facing people living with endometriosis in the United Kingdom.

Her presentation explored the challenges experienced by those affected by this often debilitating condition, drawing attention to the need for greater awareness, understanding and improvements in healthcare provision. The discussion that followed prompted a strong response from members, resulting in a clarion call for action to help raise awareness and advocate for better recognition and support for those living with endometriosis.

The meeting also reinforced the importance of regional cooperation, allowing clubs to exchange ideas, learn from one another’s experiences and identify opportunities for joint initiatives.
Alongside the formal business of the AGM, members enjoyed the warm hospitality of their Aberdeen hosts, with good food and conversation helping to strengthen the friendships that are such an important part of Soroptimist International.

The gathering demonstrated the strength of Soroptimism across Scotland North and the shared determination of its members to turn discussion into meaningful action.

Through friendship, advocacy and practical service, Soroptimists across the region continue to work together to empower women and girls, inspire action and create lasting change.
