About our club

A club by women for women, where everyone is heard

We are an active club, with members from a variety of backgrounds, carrying out a range of activities in a balanced programme to mix the fun and serious aspects of being a Soroptimist. We engage our creative talents where possible and collect various items for onward donation or recycling. We also hold social events such as a barbecue at a member’s home, walks in the local area and pub suppers.

Club information

Who we are

We are a diverse group of women from across the area.

When and where we meet

Once a month we meet face to face at Lysses House Hotel in Fareham. This is now our Programme Action meeting, possibly with a speaker. The business meeting has been moved to Zoom, later in the month.

Club programme

Apart from the monthly meetings, our next event in the programme is Orange the World.

Club history

We were chartered in 1974, as SI Gosport, Fareham and District. With more use of the website, this became an unwieldy address so we rebranded in 2018 as SI Solent East. It showed we had a broader reach than just the 2 towns too. We celebrated our 50th anniversary in 2024, by donating £50 to 50 local charities, thanks to the Charles Jacob Charitable Trust.

Leaders

Our Club has been run by an Executive Committee for some years now. That means we don’t have a President to wear the chain, which is a shame because it beautifully represents our area.

Current projects

Our current projects, including providing micro-finance to entrepreneurs through Lend with Care, can be found on our dedicated Projects page.
