Club Welcome

presidentschainlowres    Welcome to the Soroptimist International Dublin Club website. Soroptimist International is a worldwide organisation for women who want to improve the lives of other women and girls. We are women who want to make a difference.

Soroptimist International Dublin Club was chartered in 1938 and over its 76 years has contributed to local, national and international projects. Recent projects in 2015 we supported Water Aid providing clean water and sanitation, Daisy House Housing Association for homeless women and The White Ribbon Campaign working to prevent violence against women and the Irish Heart Foundation. For 2016 we held our President’s lunch in Howth in Aid of Daisyhouse who provide affordable accommodation and 18 months and personal support programmes to women who are experiencing homelessness and members took part in the Dublin Women’s Mini Marathon in aid of Home-Start which supports disadvantaged families to give their children the best start in life. Funds raised will go towards providing supervision for a Play Therapist.

This year we see the launch of the International project, Meru Women’s Garden Project, a fantastic project supporting women through agriculture; a true opportunity to Educate, Empower and Enable the women of Meru.

Last year, SI Dublin took part in our National Project promoting positive mental health and suicide prevention. Internationally we have supported our fellow Soroptimists by contributing to the BIG project (birthing in the Gambia) providing much needed maternity care to women and babies in the Gambia.

Soroptimist International are members of the National Women’s Council of Ireland which gives a voice to over 168 women’s organisations throughout the country. Annually SI Dublin takes part in the Soroptimist International Public Speaking competition for girls, which encourages young girls to have the confidence to speak in public. We also have 10 Dublin primary schools taking part in BeePlus, which aim to raise awareness of the decline of the honey bee population.

If you would like to attend one of our monthly meetings you can email SIDublinIreland@gmail.com

We look forward to hearing from you.
