S.I. GREENOCK & DISTRICT

President’s message 2009/10

It is an honour to have been elected President of S.I.Greenock & District for the session 2009/10. I was surprised when asked if I would consider standing for the post but thought ‘Well, I can’t have been too bad when I was last President 20 years ago!’ Like many other clubs, our membership is small and we have been experiencing difficulties recruiting young women to our club. I am delighted to say that we have one new, very enthusiastic member this year with, hopefully, at least one other in the pipeline. We welcome any enquiries from women in our area who may be interested in finding out more about our Club and Soroptimism in general.

Rather than choosing an additional charity this year, I have decided to concentrate our efforts on Project Sierra and hope to have a major fund-raising event in the Spring of 2010.

Meanwhile I look forward to sharing the forthcoming session with our members and 6 of us are anticipating an exciting weekend in Cardiff at SIGBI Conference.
