President’s message

Welcome to the Newport and District Soroptimist website.

It is a pleasure and an honour to have been elected as President of Soroptimist International Newport

Soroptimist International is committed to improving the lives of women and girls.  We do this by undertaking service projects in our communities.  Our project work is the real life line of our organisation and it is what makes us different from other organisations. Our catchphrase is Advocacy, Awareness and Action. It starts with us the members becoming aware of the inequalities of world-wide society and attempting in some small way to help.

Our Club continues to support local, national and international projects including educating children in India, supporting Women’s Aid, supporting the Regional Project Licking Lassa Fever and our International Project – Project Sierra. My main charity for the year is St Anne’s Hospice. We will be organising a number of enjoyable activities to raise money for St Annes.

The club has a wealth of different perspectives, expertise and varied talents. We are a very friendly club with members of all ages from a wide range of backgrounds and we welcome new members to join us. Come along to one of our events you would be most welcome.
