Welcome to Soroptimist International of Richmond and Dales
We are members of a lively and friendly club which is part of a global, international organisation committed to a world where women and girls together can achieve their individual and collective potential, realise aspirations and have an equal voice in creating strong and peaceful communities worldwide.
As individuals we come from a wide variety of professions and backgrounds with the common aim of advancing human rights and the status of women locally, nationally and internationally through service projects. In doing so we have a great deal of enjoyment and friendship.
The membership of our club is very important to us and we always welcome new members. If you are interested in finding out more about what we do and how we do it you are most welcome to come along to one of our monthly meetings held on the third Thursday of every month at which we have speakers on a wide variety of topics. Have a look at our website to see our programme for the year; to look at past and present events and meetings; and to get a flavour of our activities – you can contact us through our website.
The theme for this year is Celebrating Local History and Local People. Our programme will show how we will do this.
This year is the 40th anniversary of the founding of the Richmondshire Local History Museum in Ryders Wynd, Richmond by SI Richmond & Dales in 1974. It was, and still is, a highly significant and valuable community project that has gone from strength to strength. Two of the soroptimists who founded the museum are still involved in the work of the museum.
