Supporting local families living in poverty

As well as continuing to support the development of the community garden at SPLICE Child and Family Project, Bridgend Soroptimists funded a Day of Hope celebration in August. This was a summer picnic and fun day for local families who would not otherwise have the opportunity to go on a summer outing with their children.

SI Bridgend supplied the food for the picnic, ensuring that the SPLICE staff also had time to enjoy the event instead of being busy with sandwich-making and cake-cutting. The Soroptimists also provided art supplies and gifts for all the children at the event making it an afternoon to remember.

Local Councillor, Huw David, said, “The Splice Child and Family Project ‘Day of Hope’ was a special get together made possible by the very generous support of Bridgend Soroptimists. It was a huge success, very well attended and enjoyed by local families and their children.”
