4,500 items donated !
Stitches of comfort has provided an amazing 4,500 items
Originally formed to undertake service and meet the specified needs of Forth Valley Royal Hospital’s Sands/Pregnancy Loss Bereavement Team, the project expanded to include many different charities e.g., Alzheimers UK, Strathcarron Hospice, Police Scotland, Breast Cancer Now and the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre in Glasgow. We are proud of the large volume and variety we have produced, 4,500 pieces to date, the comfort and support of those receiving them, and for co-opting non-Soroptimists at our many venues across Stirling and Falkirk. This illustrates how one small project can develop, grow & show bigger impact.
The most important outcome was providing support and comfort to local women and children experiencing highly sensitive personal trauma, and /or loss, as well as those receiving surgery for cancer and / or end of life care. We involve skilled and unskilled members to participate in our project endeavours, while co-opting non-Soroptimists to support and join us.
We have produced mastectomy cushions and car seat belt cushions for women post breast cancer surgery; Trauma Teddies for children in difficult situations, Cribs and Angel wraps plus blankets and baby hats for Sands charity, and so much more.
