Charity Car Park Fundraising

At Whitstable and District Soroptimist International Club we are fortunate to be included in a community based fundraising activity. Whitstable Junior School have a large playground and when the school is closed the space is transformed in to a car park. Local voluntary groups are given the opportunity to provide car park marshalling on a rota basis throughout the year. The proceeds are split between the school and the participating voluntary group. Being a central location in a town where parking is scarce and expensive, the car park is popular with locals and visitors, who pay a donation to park, so everyone is a winner! Club members volunteer to oversee the parking arrangements, greeting customers, advising of parking availability and collecting donations. Working in pairs, Club members volunteer for a couple of hours each, on a coordinated rota. It's fun and engaging chatting to shoppers and visitors and a great way to support the school and generate funds for our Club charities and causes we support throughout the year.
