3S Fund

The 3S Fund is run by the SI Region of Scotland South.  Clubs across the region raise money to support young people, mainly young women, to travel abroad to undertake voluntary service.  SI Edinburgh have been very active in raising contributions over the years and are always delighted to welcome back recipients to hear about their experiences.

We constantly need to keep topping up the Fund so that more young people can be supported. Our main contributions come from filling empty Smartie tubes with 20p pieces or £1 coins.  We are very happy to receive contributions to support this work.

COVID – 19 has obviously had an impact on the possible travel arrangements for young people. The Club are still taking applications and if accepted the applicants currently go on a waiting list. Further arrangements will be made when travelling and working on projects is possible again.

In the meantime, we are still looking for ways to raise funds and any contributions will be most welcome.

Club members heard of the experiences of two recipients who had been to teach in Chile and India and Morag Insley presented a cheque to one of the recipients, a young Girl Guide leader.
