International Women’s Day
International Women’s Day 2013 – Pontcysyllte Aqueduct
Members of SI Cheshire, North Wales and Wirral marked International Women’s Day on 9th March 2013, on a canal bridge on the Llangollen Canal. We had just sailed over the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, near to Llangollen, on a narrow boat. Aled Roberts, North Wales Assembly Member, came to see us off. On our return trip, Gill Grainger, Community Cohesion Manager from Wrexham, spoke to us about Trafficking and emphasised that it is going on in all our communities. Some photos are below.
‘Join Me on the Bridge’ – International Women’s Day 2012.
On International Women’s Day, 8 March, thousands of women show that they are with the women of Afghanistan, Iraq, Congo, Rwanda, South Sudan and other war-torn countries.
On bridges around the world, thousands of women stand in solidarity with each other to mark the day. ‘Join me on the Bridge’ is the coming together of women from around the world, united in taking a stand for PEACE and women’s EQUALITY.
Members of SI Runcorn Frodsham and District joined with other Soroptimists in the Region to stand on either the Conwy Suspension Bridge or the Eastgate Clock Bridge in the centre of Chester – see photos below.
