Our new President
Mell’s Theme for her tenure is:
How to Skills ….. for Friendship & Fun
Mell’s theme involves practical skills and applies to Individuals/Clubs and Region. Kindness costs nothing and if people are happier through kindness they are more resilient, better able to cope with difficult situations. Mell is happy to be kind and will not judge other women. She wants members to enjoy Regional meetings. Fun is ‘found’ in Fundraising which is one of Mell’s skills of which we will hear more at future meetings. Her message is:
During these unprecedented times I am reminded that it’s not about what you can’t do, it’s about what you can do. Being in a positive state of mind is not always easy, but it is what Soroptimist sisters are being all over the world. London Anglia region is geographically dispersed but has the most amazing members and on a daily basis I’m hearing about wonderful acts of service and kindness. I’m hoping that our members have not been personally touched by this devastating virus, that family and friends are managing to avoid it and all are staying safe and well.
Being a Soroptimist means you are never alone, so keeping in touch with each other can be so important for those that want to and I’m delighted many of our Clubs are having virtual meetings – social and business, including AGMs and have developed a WhatsApp group or Buddy system. Thank you for telling me about what you and your club are doing to help your communities and each other – see the Post on Programme Action during lockdown.
Whilst fundraising is hard, it always is, there are examples of it out there! But it is about service to others and kindness in general. Do read about what others are doing across the UK and shout about what you are doing too. Take care and I hope to see you soon, at least virtually and in person as soon as possible.
If you are interested in joining our organisation or finding out more about us, please get in touch. We look forward to meeting you.
