President’s message

President Sue Kinsey

I only discovered Soroptimism seven years ago having been introduced to the Aberdeen Club by my good friend Alison Mitchell, who, coincidentally, I have succeeded as Club President. It is an enormous honour to be Club President for the year 2012/13, and I am hoping to build on the changes in the way we work which began during President Alison’s year.

Soroptimist International of Aberdeen has been part of the city community for 83 years since it was chartered in 1929. Our 40+ members reflect many aspects of life – artists and business women, educationalists and those from the health services. The experience and connections of our members, both personal and professional, enables us to know our community, work with it and within it, and make a difference.

Soroptimists all over the world are working to make a difference to the lives of women and girls, both in their own communities and in other parts of the globe by, amongst many activities, lobbying at the United Nations, campaigning on issues affecting women and girls and raising funds for special projects.

If you wish to belong to a dynamic organisation involved both locally and globally in making a difference to the lives of women and girls and have some fun along the way, do join us – you will be most welcome.
