We are the only ‘hybrid’ club in Cornwall
We are a group of soroptimists who have formed a new type of club, which although digitally based, offers in-person and on-line opportunities to fully engage in soroptimist causes. Many women choose Cornwall as their home because of the rurality of the county and it is, indeed, a beautiful place to live. However, rural living can be challenging for women of any age due to factors such as sparsity or limited access to resources, transport issues, lack of employment options or opportunities for socialising. Whilst loneliness or social isolation are not the same thing, both are closely related and can severely impact on one’s quality of life. Our club aims to allow women, wherever they live in Cornwall to come together regularly, in a safe space with like-minded friends to talk, have fun and engage in activities which benefit women and girls. We believe in the vision and mission of Soroptimist International and have many links with women all over the world. We aim to help local women understand international issues and provide opportunities to talk to women in different parts of the world. Our club is part of the Great Britain and Ireland Federation of Soroptimists (sigbi.org) which includes a vast network of clubs right across the UK and beyond. We aim to work with women throughout the Federation in order to enhance our advocacy work. We are a group of vibrant soroptimists, some very experienced, others relatively new but we are enthusiastic and determined to work collaboratively to benefit women and girls.
Would you like to know more?
We are looking for women to join us as we ‘set sail’ on our new venture. Our members are both young and ‘more mature’, digital natives and digital beginners, women in work and retired, mums, sisters, aunties and grandmothers. Whoever you are and most importantly, wherever you are in Cornwall, we will welcome you and we will help you to access our meetings and projects.
