We are pleased to welcome as our guests the following three local speakers: 
| Liam Brown | Liam is an award-winning novelist from Birmingham. He is the author of 5 novels which have been translated into several languages and optioned for film. His fourth, Skin, published in 2019, was shortlisted for the Guardian’s Not the Booker Prize and describes the consequences of a global pandemic, which proved to be all too prophetic! His latest novel, Evergreens, which explores themes of love and aging, was awarded Contemporary Novel of the Year 2024 by the Romantic Novelists’ Association.

| Ruth Graham | When Ruth left stand-up comedy to become a funeral celebrant, she imagined a career less confrontational. One thousand services later she knows better, needing courage, diplomacy and humour to navigate the daily challenges. Her books are a window into the hidden world of the Civil Celebrant and a reminder to seize the day as tomorrow is never guaranteed.

| GJ Phelps | Gary is a multi award-winning journalist who, over a 28 year career, has edited nine newspapers. He has had a life-long passion for horror stories and, when a journalist, heard many spooky tales. Some of these have found their way into his first novel, 13 Doors. Set largely in Birmingham and the Black Country it follows reporter Joe who sets out to explore 13 haunted locations – with scary consequences. |
