14 million women in the UK make up 53% of the population aged over 50 and often these older women are invisible.  Ageism and sexism have regularly meant that older women are perceived differently across all areas of society, especially in public life, the media and policy – their voices simply fade away.

Soroptimist International Great Britain and Ireland (SIGBI) has a solution to make a real difference in the area of gender equality, moving from box-ticking to measurable change. Structured, considered Gender Impact Assessments – like those which have been previously established for climate change, will push governments to think about the impact of their decisions and policies on women and girls.
