Soroptimists celebrate the very best of club projects at the Annual Conference in Birmingham, recognising exceptional initiatives that champion Awareness, Advocacy and Action for women and girls.
This year’s Best Practice Awards showcased the creativity and global reach of our Federation, with 43 clubs and 2 regions submitting projects representing more than 39,500 volunteer hours.
The Delegate Choice Award, voted for by conference members, went to SI Esperance for “Think Before You Click” , a digital-safety initiative delivered with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). The project equips girls with the knowledge to protect themselves from online grooming, sextortion and cyberbullying, and stood out for its strong potential to be replicated by clubs across the Federation. It has already empowered 100 first-year students at a local girls’ college through expert-led sessions and practical safety resources. Watch the trailer here.
Recognising excellence across awareness, advocacy and action, the Best Practice Awards highlight how Soroptimists are delivering real, measurable impact. Programme Director Lindsay Green said: “This year’s submissions have humbled and impressed in equal measure. These inspiring projects show how Soroptimists are driving the UN Sustainable Development Goals forward, and demonstrate how powerful our simple, collective action can be when shared across our Federation.”
2025 Soroptimist Best Practice Award Winners are:
Advocacy: SI Belfast – “16 Days of Activism: End Violence Against Women,” mobilising over 160 volunteers to create 600 banners displayed in 36 public spaces, reaching 16,000 people.
Awareness: SI San Fernando – “Inspiring and Developing Young Entrepreneurs,” empowering secondary school students to launch real businesses.
Action: SI Trinidad & Tobago – “Taking Action to Increase HPV Vaccination,” a national campaign reaching over 235,000 people on social media and half a million through print media.

Federation President Gillie O’Rourke congratulated all the finalists. “Every project reflects the heart of what it means to be a Soroptimist, women taking action, empowering others, and transforming communities. The dedication, creativity and compassion shown by our members is inspiring.”
Soroptimists’ next celebration of excellence will take place at the 2026 Conference in Cardiff, where clubs are encouraged to submit their most impactful projects for this year.
“Every Soroptimist project begins with a simple idea — to make life better for women and girls,” said Lindsay. “The Best Practice Awards remind us just how powerful that idea can be.”
