On 28th August, Soroptimist members shared an enjoyable day with their
friends from the Derby club. After meeting for coffee and a convivial lunch,
the ladies went to the racecourse in time for the John Jenkins Memorial
Claiming Stakes.
Margaret Jenkins, a member of the Beverley club, chose the best turned
out horse for this race: Academy Blues, and she presented the owner of the
winning horse, Sunnyside Tom, with the beautiful rose bowl trophy for the
second year running.
Following an entertaining afternoon, tea was served at Margaret
Jenkins’ home before the group dispersed.
