Candles in the windows of members’ homes
Tuesday was International Nurses Day, held on the 200th birthday of Florence Nightingale.
Members of SI Hallamshire lit candles at 8.30pm on Tuesday May 12th and placed them in their windows to pay tribute to nurses working through the coronavirus pandemic. Nursing leaders had asked the public to ‘shine a light’ to mark the the bicentenary of Florence Nightingale’s birth and to show our appreciation for all that nurses are doing at the present time.
Florence Nightingale founded modern nursing and pioneered infection control.
