Soroptimist International - Jersey

Soroptimist International of Jersey is part of a worldwide organisation of women, which is linked to the United Nations.

Welcome to Soroptimist International Jersey

One of over 3,000 Soroptimist clubs in 120 countries worldwide. Our Island Club is proud to be part of this global volunteer women’s organisation, founded in 1921, working to transform the lives of women and girls through education, empowerment and enabling opportunities.

Key activities include advocating for gender equality, working to eliminate violence against women, supporting local charities and providing education grants.

The name ‘Soroptimist’ was coined by combining the Latin words soro ‘sister’ and optima ‘best’ and can be taken to mean ‘best for women.’

The Club holds meetings on the fourth Wednesday of the month at the Monterey Hotel in St. Saviour’s Road, at 7.00 p.m (see Meeting Dates).  You can have a chat with our Membership Secretary or come along to a meeting, with no obligation.

The age range of members is 20s to 90s! we welcome women who are new to the Island or who have lived here all their lives.
