Puja Parikrama has been an annual activity with the shelter children of IPER (Institute of Physiological and Educational Research) but has stopped during covid. This year SISK revived the annual event. Starting early on Ashtami to take the children pandal hopping. The children had fun hopping in and out of the bus an looking at the gorgeous idols of goddesses.  They were treated to snacks and drinks. And lastly we all enjoyed the bhog sent by one of our member. This year we were joined in by our two interns, Vrinda and Rajnita, students of Symbiosis Pune. The interns will be making a short film on women empowerment and Goddess Durga.

SISK Fundraiser Musical Evening by Adil and Paloma was a great hit! Author, scholar, and women’s rights activist, Jael Silliman, was our guest of honour. Adil and his band kept the audience enthralled. Guest artiste Krsna Dwaipayan Mukerji, lead singer of Humsafar was an added attraction. And they did it all pro bono for the good cause of education and nutrition of those less privileged. The photos are a testimony to the wonderful spirit of Soroptimism and music!

SI South Kolkata was represented at the Conference by two members, Bhaswati Biswas, outgoing SIGBI Friendship Link Coordinator for two terms and Shukla Chattopadhyay, Memorial Grant Awardee and incoming APD Prosperity at SIGBI Federation. It was a wonderful experience for first-timer Shukla. We touched base with our first-ever Friendship Link Club, SI Kettering, represented by Heather Korby at Conference. The FPAC showed a lot that we could learn from. Particularly remarkable and delightful was the Project on dresses for Prom! The Programme focus was an event all Soroptimists looked forward to. The onstage presence of Kay, Programme Director, the Assistant Programme Directors at the Conference and the presenters of the programme action for the five programme focus areas, was a sight to behold. Everyone pledging “Say No to Violence” reverberated through the auditorium. SI South Kolkata received the Best Project Award under the Planet Category
