Soroptimist International Wigan and Soroptimist International Leigh both support the Ashton Leigh and Wigan Osteoporosis Support Group having previously raised funds for the National Osteoporosis Society.The aim is to raise awareness and help prevent osteoporosis and support people with the condition.
On June 23rd 2018 SI Leigh had a Womens Zone event in the square outside Leigh Town Hall. The Osteoporosis stand was manned by members of SI Wigan and SI Leigh. It was well attended and raised awareness of the Support Group and the National Osteoporosis Society.
On July 5th the local Osteoprosis Support Group had a stand at the Greater Manchester Festival Of Ageing at the DW Football Stadium, manned by members of SI Wigan. Over 500 people attended and about 100 people saw the information about the condition, the Support Group and the National Osteoporosis Society.
