SI Wigan AGM

SI Wigan AGM

in

Last night SI Wigan held their AGM at Highfield St Matthew’s Parish Hall. The meeting was well attended, with apologies from some members unable to attend because of previous commitments, one member is currently sailing around Venice I believe! Officers of the club presented their reports with President Angela Holmes chairing the meeting. PAC Chairman Kathleen Moran was particularly pleased to present her report as it showed that despite the trials and tribulations of the past two years with Covid the club continues to raise money and so has been able to fulfil their charitable commitments. All Officers were elected to continue in their role with Angela continuing as President. After the meeting there was time for people to meet and socialise with a very welcome drink plus chocolate!

Several members from SIWigan attended a lunch at The Edge in Wigan to mark International Women’s Day. The group were treated to a series of videos showcasing the talent of Women in Wigan that finished with a poem by a local poet, Louise Fazackerley,  where our own Kate Fussell got a mention. Kate was also mentioned by Professor Kate Ardern as a pioneer of surgery in Wigan, resulting in a round of applause for Kate in appreciation of her life and contribution to the role of Women in Wigan. Below is a picture from today’s lunch with Angela , our Club President and Kathleen , our PAC Lead.

Members of SI Wigan , who are a talented group of ladies , had a stall today at the  Regional PAC meeting, that was held at Leigh Sports Village, selling knitted chicks , bunnies and baskets. Due to their  efforts and other  members’ support £100.00 was raised to donate to the Hospice. There are still some more to be sold so hopefully our donation to the Hospice should increase. Thanks to everyone for their support.

Three members of SI Wigan attended the 75th Charter Anniversary Lunch for SI Leigh and District at Haydock Park Golf Club. From all accounts a great time was had by all with a wonderful afternoon organised by SI Leigh, this involved a fantastic meal and entertainment. There was dancing in the aisle courtesy of the ‘sing along waiters’. Congratulations to SI Leigh and District on their 75th Anniversary.

SI Wigan were eventually able to present their cheque in person to Wigan Hospice late last year. After endless meetings on Zoom Si Wigan were able to meet in person to present a cheque for £2.400.00 to Wigan Hospice. The money was raised at the Tea at the farm event where people were able to enjoy the sunshine , browse the stalls and play the Tombola etc. Many thanks to everyone for a splendid team effort.
