Laskcavo prosimo na nash druzniy vechir
President Marianne was delighted to welcome our Ukrainian guests to what was a wonderful evening of friendship and fun.
Our guest speaker Alla Lemishenko shared a very moving video and spoke with such feeling and emotion clearly moved by the images of her home country and her beautiful and very talented daughter Veronika.
We had a real taste of Ukrainian hospitality and food and members expressed their warm appreciation to Alla, Vira , Olga, Masha, Katerina, Iryna and Eva for creating such a feast and sharing their very personal and heartfelt stories with us – there was not a dry eye in the house.
Veronika Lemishenko’s Charity Foundation is one of two Charities supported by President Marianne this year and is supporting the Ukrainian International Project ‘Glowing Harp’.
The Foundation has been repurposed prioritising its efforts in support of those in need who remain in Ukraine during this time of conflict. Assistance has been given to many causes including relief centers, hospitals, volunteers in various capacities and has even included support to animal shelters – many family pets left behind when their families had to leave Ukraine.
The foundation continues to support Ukrainian harpists – as Alla shared : ‘what is the future without art, what is the nation without culture’
To date the Veronika Lemishenko Charity Foundation has raised almost 27,000 euros with Benefit events spanning the globe including Austria, England, Slovakia, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Germany, France, Belgium, Czech Republic, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Turkey, United States of America as well as here in Wales and Ukraine.
President Marianne wishes to thank everyone for making our Ukrainian Friendship Evening such a very special evening – remembering Alla’s closing remarks:
‘Today we are building for our tomorrow. We are responsible for what our country will be tomorrow. Our children, our culture, our heritage. We are fighting for that future. ’
