Strawberry Tea Fundraiser

in

On Saturday, 6th July at Y Gadlys, Llansadwrn, we held a Strawberry tea in aid of the Special Care Baby Unit at Ysbyty Gwynedd. What a successful event with a plant stall, crafts, tombola, pre-loved stall, face-painting, food, music and much more. An amazing £2,070 was raised on the day topped up by HSBC to give £3,070 – brilliant. President Eirwen would like to thank all members of SI Bangor who worked so hard to prepare beforehand,  help on the day and tidy up afterwards. Diolch  yn fawr iawn!

The Unit is part of the North West Wales Neonatal Service and  also the North Wales Neonatal Transport Service.  This year we at SI Bangor will be fundraising to help purchase a Phototherapy Unit for treating of neonatal jaundice.

The Abbey Road Centre which offers help, support and services for those with mental health issues, were delighted when SI Bangor asked how they could be of help.  Very soon four of our club members spent a day decorating and painting a room at the Centre to be used by a Psychologist to run courses and carry out group work.  Having a lovely environment does make such a difference to a person’s sense of well-being – a good job done ladies!

We are delighted to have raised £5,000 to support the Dementia Care Team in their work and hope that the money will benefit patients with dementia, their families and the community.  The Soroptimist International Bangor & District Club was chartered in 1948 and shared its 70th Anniversary with the NHS.  For this reason we chose to support Dementia Care in Ysbyty Gwynedd Hospital in our Anniversary year. In the course of selling raffle tickets, holding tombola stalls in Ysbyty Gwynedd, social events, coffee mornings, a Glam and Glitz evening and finally an Anniversary Afternoon Tea we have met so many people who wanted to support this cause because of their first hand experience of family and friends with dementia.  It has been a humbling experience and we wish to thank everyone who supported us willingly and generously.  We wish Delyth Hughes and her amazing team
